One of the red finches (who visits my urban – NYC - garden) even stopped noshing (well almost) to join me in thanking Michelle Fabio (@ http://on.fb.me/OvQTVj) for assisting me in inserting an “add on” to the “about section” of my indiegogo Campaign!
It seems the red house finches and I share something besides my garden and that is our “issues” with eyesight! I have recently received troublesome prognosis regarding my already much comprised eyesight, something I was born with (as discussed in one of my
initial posts on The Last Leaf Gardeners Blogger Pages).
AND, as for the red house finches, the entire population of red house finches was nearly wiped out in 1997, re their issues with eyesight; when they contracted a disease that caused “infected birds (to) have red, swollen, watery, or crusty eyes (and) in extreme cases the eyes (became) swollen shut or crusted over, and the birds (became) essentially blind. (When) the infected birds (died), it (was) usually not directly from the conjunctivitis, but rather from starvation, exposure, or predation as a result of not being able to see. Some infected birds (did) recover.“
Because my inidiegogo Campaign’s mission is to give voice to what lives in (and visits) my garden, the news of my red finches plight has caused me to update my Campaign with the help of Michelle Fabio even though I only have 21 days left! Please have a look at the add on.
